Childhood Apraxia of Speech

Saturday, September 17, 2016  08:00 - 03:30PM
Room #245, Centennial Student Union, Minnesota State University-Mankato
Diagnosis and treatment of CAS can be challenging in any clinical setting, and children with severe speech sound disorders have additional risk for later difficulty with literacy. Developing appropriate treatment goals depends on differential diagnosis. A child's progress with those goals provides the data needed to adapt intervention to meet their changing needs. This course will review research that informs clinical decision-making for children with CAS. We will discuss assessment procedures, techniques for treatment of the speech disorder, and supports for literacy development, with sharing of video examples.
