Campus Recreation - Memberships

Group Fitness Classes ONLY Membership (Non-students)

Non-students are considered to be: faculty, staff, alumni, emerita, spouses of the before mentioned and spouses of students, and donors.

Fee includes your attendance to all group fitness classes on the Campus Recreation schedule for the semester you purchase the membership. 
Summer Session (10 weeks): $25
Fall Semester (15 weeks): $25
Spring Semester (15 weeks): $25
 
This does NOT include a membership the Otto Recreation Center, Highland Center Pool, other Campus Recreation facilities or programs.  This membership is only for attending group fitness classes on the Campus Recreation schedule.  If you wish to purchase an Otto Recreation Center & Group Fitness Classes Membership see information below.

For questions about becoming a donor or how to pay online without a MSU Tech ID please contact Todd Pfingsten.
Once we receive verification of your payment for the Group Fitness Classes ONLY Membership we will contact you by email during regular business hours (M-F, 8am-5pm) to confirm your payment.

Otto Recreation Center & Group Fitness Membership (Non-students)

Faculty, staff, alumni, spouses of the before mentioned and spouses of students, and donors are eligible to purchase an Otto Recreation Center & Group Fitness Membership, which includes access to the Highland Center Pool. 

$100 Per Semester (Fall or Spring) $50 Summer Only
$200 Annually (Membership is valid for one calendar year from date of purchase)
*Mid-semester/summer we offer 1/2 price (pro-rated) memberships
Once we receive verification of your payment for the Otto Recreation Center & Group Fitness Membership we may contact you by email during regular business hours (M-F, 8am-5pm) if we need more information.  But, please allow 1-2 business days for membership to be activated if you have a MSU Tech ID.

MSU donors, spouses of faculty, staff, alumni, emerita, and students may not have a MSU Tech ID for a MavCard to be activated.  You will need to stop by MF 118 to pick up your membership card.

Otto Recreation Center Locker Rental

Current students and Otto Recreation members are able to rent lockers in the Otto Rec Center.
$20 Per Semester (Fall or Spring or Summer) $40 for Two Semesters (remainder of current semester and next semester)
$50 for Three Semesters (remainder of current semester and next two semesters)
Campus Recreation provides the combination lock.  There is a $10 charge for lost locks.  There is no towel service.

Stop by the main Campus Recreation Office, Myers Field House (MF) 118, to be assigned your locker during regular business hours, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.  Please provide a copy of your receipt for verification purposes.

Austin TX Singer-songwriter and Red House recording artist RAY BONNEVILLE is a blues poet whose acclaimed performance groove is the product of a unique, electric guitar style, unrivaled harmonica tone, smoky vocal and unwavering foot percussion. Bonneville’s blues-influenced, New Orleans-inspired style sometimes draws comparisons to JJ Cale and Daniel Lanois. Bonneville has earned many accolades including a Juno Award for his 1999 album, Gust of Wind. His post-Katrina ode, “I Am the Big Easy,” earned the International Folk Alliance’s 2009 Song of the Year Award, and in 2012, Bonneville won the solo/duet category in the Blues Foundation’s International Blues Challenge.

The Dumpy Jug Bumpers are a string band that brings back the reckless sounds of country blues, ragtime, and jug band music from the era of 78 RPM records. They transform any stage into a barrelhouse romp, performing on a menagerie of stringed instruments and hand made percussion accompaniment.

The HEARTLAND MARIMBA QUARTET is an ensemble of four dynamic solo performers. The ensemble tours the nation regularly and is featured as artist-in-residence annually each summer at the Heartland Marimba Festival Academy at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. The performers are accomplished and award winning solo players. The group was formed in order to provide a strong presence and public image year-round for the Heartland Marimba Festival, and to forge a path of gainful opportunities for professional marimba players.

DAVINA AND THE VAGABONDS have created a stir on the national music scene with their high-energy live shows, musicianship, sharp-dressed professionalism, and Sowers’ commanding stage presence. This rollicking quintet is held together by Sowers’ keyboard playing, with acoustic bass, drums, and a spicy trumpet and trombone horn section. The group’s sound and emphasis on acoustic instruments is novel to both blues and jazz worlds with influences ranging from Fats Domino and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band to Aretha Franklin and Tom Waits. The Vagabonds have appeared at festivals in Thunder Bay, Ontario; Sighisoara, Romania; Sierre, Switzerland; Kemi, Finland; the 2012 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, the 2013 and 2014 Monterey Jazz Festival, Vache de Blues in France, and North Sea Jazz Festival.

Performance Series Event: Phil Markowitz

PHIL MARKOWITZ has been a talented pianist for decades. He began playing piano when he was four. After graduating from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, Markowitz formed a fusion group in 1973 called Petrus. Three years later he officially moved to New York City, where he worked with Joe Chambers, Toots Thielemans, Miroslav Vitous, and others. Most significant was his time as a member of the Chet Baker Quartet which resulted in four European tours and several recordings. Markowitz spent 1983-1985 with the Mel Lewis Orchestra and was part of a trio with Al DiMeola and Airto Moreira (which was later expanded to a quintet) that recorded a set for Manhattan. In 1987 Markowitz became a permanent member of the Bob Mintzer Big Band, and in 1990 he began an association with Dave Liebman resulting in a number of recordings. Quite active as a jazz educator, Markowitz has also recorded and/or worked with Phil Woods, Michael Brecker, Stan Getz and Lionel Hampton

Family Weekend

Come and enjoy the weekend with your Maverick. Events will be planned for Mavericks of all ages. This is a chance for families to learn more about their student's experiences. With this knowledge, families can contribute to their student's success.

Registering for family weekend will secure you free entry into most events (only event with a cost is the football game, but there is a reduced cost with pre-registration). 

Pre-Registration for the 5K Fun Run/Walk is required at the Campus Recreation Website!

Students are asked to pick up your registration materials between Monday, September 18 and Friday, September 22 in New Student and Family Programs, Preska Residence Community room 103 between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. 

No refunds will be given for football tickets.

Intramural Sports

Fall 2017 - Intramural Golf Scramble

Friday, September 8, 2017  2:00pm
The 2-person Intramural Golf Scramble will take place at Terrace View Golf Course, just south of Mankato on Hwy 22.  Tee times will be assigned after registration closes, with the first grouping teeing off at 2pm.
The tournament is a 9-hole, 2-person scramble format tournament. There will be various pin prizes available throughout the tournament.
The cost is $30/per team to cover green fees and pin prizes. Participants must register as a 2-person team. Teams may rent a cart at the cost of $16 per team payable at Terrace view upon check-in.

2017 Fall - Sand Volleyball Tournament

Games will take place on September 10th starting at 10am at the sand volleyball courts near Julia Sears dorms. Any weather cancellations will be communicated to team captains and via our social media pages (Twitter: @mnsucrec Facebook: www.facebook.com/mnsucrec/)
Games are 4 v 4. The cost is $30/per team.  A Mandatory managers meeting will be held in HC 1700 from 5:00pm-5:30pm on September 7th. Game schedules will be distributed at the managers meeting.

2017 Fall - Dodgeball Tournament

Games will take place on October 11th starting at 6pm in Schellberg Gym, located in the Highland North Building.
Games are 6 v 6. The cost is $40/per team.  A Mandatory managers meeting will be held in HC 1700 from 4:30pm-5:00pm on October 5th. Game schedules will be distributed at the managers meeting.

Matches will take place at the dart boards in the Maverick Bullpen at a time agreed upon between the competitors. Participants will be emailed schedules of play after the close of registration.

2017-2018 MSU Maverick Hockey Fast Pass Program

Ticket distribution takes place starting Monday mornings at 8:30 am in or near the MSU Athletics Office (135 Myers Field House) up until 11:00 am on Wednesdays, when tickets are opened up to the general student population. Note: ticket distribution only takes place during the weeks of HOME hockey series. You are not guaranteed tickets after 11:00 am on Wednesdays during home game weeks.
The Maverick Hockey Fast Pass Program is designed to guarantee interested students men's hockey tickets to all home series during the regular season. Participants receive one FREE ticket to all home games during the regular season, including premium games such as University of Minnesota Gophers and Wisconsin Badgers when they play at Verizon.

Avoid the distribution lines on Wednesday and save time. We limit Fast Passes each season so get yours now!

Once signed up, simply bring your MavCard to the Athletic Office on Monday or Tuesday the week of a home hockey game(s) during normal business hours and pick up your tickets BEFORE the general student ticket distribution process begins on Wednesday.

To ensure the best possible student atmosphere at each game, unclaimed tickets will be re-distributed and included in the general student ticket distribution process for each home series.

FREE Family Week 5K Fun Run/Walk 2017

5K Fun Run/Walk

Registration Info: You may register up to five participants per online registration.
Registrations will also be taken the day of the event starting at 9:15am at the 5K Fun Run/Walk site.
Location: The 5K Fun Run/Walk will take place on the Fitness Trail, by the MSU, Mankato softball fields, located by Green Parking Lot 1. Parking Map
T-shirts will be given to the first 200 5K participants who check in at the 5K registration table on the day of the event.

Stomper Sprint
A short race with Stomper for kids of all ages will take place on the outdoor track by the Fitness Trail.
Starting Time: 9:45am
Registration not required - just show up.
Location: Outdoor track, located by the Fitness Trail.
Ribbons will be given to all Stomper Sprint participants.
A parent/guardian is required to sign a waiver for any child to participate in the Stomper Sprint prior to the event.

There is no rain site planned for either events. If it's lightly raining we will have the event. If it is pouring rain we will cancel the events. The 5K shirts will be located in the Myers Field House during the first part of the Family Fun Carnival which starts at 10:30am.

If you do not have a team of four people the cost is still $250.  You must have at least three people to register and participate.  If you have three people the cost is $83.34 per person.

Men interested in joining a fraternity at Minnesota State Mankato will want to take advantage of the opportunity provided through Formal Recruitment. Through this process, they will be able to meet members from all of the fraternities on campus and will be able to make a decision about where they best fit. Events begin on Wednesday, August 23, with an optional, but highly-encouraged Fraternity Meet-and-Greet from 7-9 p.m. The actual Formal Recruitment process takes place Thursday-Saturday, August 24-26. Those participating should be available for the whole process. "Bid Day," or the day on which men may actually receive bids, or invitations to join, will be Sunday, August 27. In order to register, you will need both your MSU StarID and your TechID numbers. 2017 Campus and Community Fair - Non Profit Agency Fee

Join us for the annual Campus and Community Fair, Wednesday, September 6, 2017, from 10 am - 2 pm in the CSU Ballroom and Mav Ave. In addition to booth space, you will also be provided with a light breakfast, a lunch ticket, and a parking pass. (Limit one parking pass per booth, so please plan accordingly.) Volunteers will be available to assist you with carrying your display items from the parking lot to the ballroom, as well as to your car at the end of the day. Check in can begin at 9 am. This event is taking place on the same day as the New Employees Fair, so we anticipate a larger crowd from cross-attendance. We are only taking credit card payments for booths this year. Please follow the instructions that follow to make your payment. There is a limit of 50 booths being held for our non-profit/501(c3) agencies seeking volunteers. We hope you can join us for this event!
